How to write a Bank of the Universe check

Step-by-step instructions for a Bank of the Universe check, a filled-in example, the 2026 new moon dates, and what to do once the check is written.

A Bank of the Universe check is a manifestation tool with a paper-thin premise and a surprisingly good track record. You take a blank check, make it out to yourself for the amount you want, sign it on behalf of the universe, and keep it where you will see it. That is the whole ritual. People have been doing it for decades under a few names: the abundance check, the law of abundance check, the universe check, the manifestation cheque.

This is a complete guide to writing one properly, with a filled-in example, the remaining 2026 new moon dates, and the part most guides leave out: what you do on the day after.

What is an abundance check?

An abundance check is a check you write to yourself from an imaginary bank. No money moves. The point is to put a specific number in front of your eyes, in the most serious financial format we have, so that the goal stops being a mood and starts being a claim.

Two traditions exist, and they differ in one detail.

  • The Bank of the Universe check is a printable check with the bank name printed at the top. You fill in your name, a dollar amount, a memo, and a signature. It is about a specific figure.
  • The law of abundance check is written within 24 hours of a new moon. Instead of an amount you write "Paid in full", and you sign it "The Law of Abundance". It is about openness to receiving rather than one target.

Both work the same way underneath. Both are best treated as the first entry in a longer practice, not a one-off.

How to write a Bank of the Universe check, step by step

You need a blank check. A printable Bank of the Universe check, a spare check from your real checkbook with the bank name crossed out, or a check you draw on an index card all work. The universe is not checking the paper stock.

  1. Date. Write today's date, or the date of the next new moon if you are timing it that way. Do not post-date it. A future date tells your own brain the money is for later.
  2. Pay to the order of. Your full name. Not a business, not a partner, not "me". Your name, the way it appears on your real account.
  3. Amount, in numbers. One specific figure. Not "a lot", not a range. If you are choosing between $25,000 and $50,000, pick one and write it. Specific numbers are the entire mechanism; a vague check is a wish with a border around it.
  4. Amount, in words. Write it out the way a real check requires: "Twenty-five thousand and 00/100". Slowing down to spell the number is part of the work.
  5. Memo. What the money is for. "Studio in Lisbon." "Runway for the first hire." "The year off." The memo is the vision; the amount is the price of it.
  6. Signature. Sign it "The Universe", "Bank of the Universe", or, if you prefer to own the commitment, your own name. Either is fine. Pick the one that makes the check feel real to you.
  7. Put it where you will see it. Wallet, mirror, laptop background, the inside cover of your notebook. Not a drawer.

Then leave it alone. Rewriting the check every day is anxiety wearing a ritual's clothes.

A filled-in abundance check example

Here is one written the way this guide recommends.

Field What to write
Date October 10, 2026
Pay to the order of Kyle Hurst
$ 25,000.00
Amount in words Twenty-five thousand and 00/100
Memo Studio in Lisbon
Signed The Universe

Notice what it is not. It is not "$25,000 for financial freedom". Financial freedom has no price, and a memo without a picture attached is something your brain files under someday. Studio in Lisbon has a door, a rent, and a date you could move in.

Law of abundance check 2026 dates

If you are writing the new moon version, the check goes out within 24 hours after the new moon. The remaining new moons in 2026, in US Eastern time, are:

  • Saturday, October 10, 2026
  • Monday, November 9, 2026
  • Tuesday, December 8, 2026 (December 9 in UTC and most of Europe)

For the law of abundance format, write "Paid in full" on both amount lines, sign it "The Law of Abundance", and keep it somewhere private. Some people burn the old check when they write the new one. Some keep every one. Neither choice matters as much as writing the next one.

Why the check stops working after a week

Here is the honest part.

A check is a snapshot. It says one number, once. It does not know that you found $300 for the goal on Tuesday, or that you talked yourself out of it on Thursday. After a few days of looking at it, your eyes learn to skip it the way they skip a poster. The number is still there, but it has stopped asking you anything.

The people who get the most from abundance checks are the ones who quietly upgrade the check into a practice: they keep a page where the number lives, they add to it, they look at the running total. In other words, they stop writing checks and start keeping a ledger.

What to do after you write the check

Deposit it.

That is what Manifesting Bank is for. It is a bank of the universe with a ledger instead of a single check. You open an account, name the vision from your memo line, attach the number from the amount box, and wire it to future you. No money moves; the intention does. The difference from a paper check is what happens next:

  • The number has a balance. Every transfer you post adds to it. The studio is not a $25,000 check on the mirror; it is $25,000 funded $600 at a time, and you can watch it clear.
  • The check becomes a standing order. Set a transfer to recur every Monday and the vision receives a deposit whether or not you remembered to feel abundant that week.
  • You get a statement. A ledger of every intention you have posted, with dates, is a very different object from a check you wrote once in October.

If you have already written a check, the first transfer is easy: the amount and the memo are already decided. Open your account, name the vision, and post the number. Then put the paper check in your wallet anyway. It is a good reminder of the day you started.

Frequently asked questions

Do you date a Bank of the Universe check? Yes. Today's date or the next new moon. Never a future date; that pushes the money into "later".

How much should I write on an abundance check? The real number for a real thing. Big enough that it changes something, specific enough that you could invoice it. If you cannot picture what the money buys, you have not finished deciding.

Can I write more than one abundance check? Yes, one per vision. Two goals on one check is how both stay vague. Better still, give each vision its own account and its own running balance.

Does it have to be a printed check? No. A hand-drawn check on an index card carries the same weight. What matters is the format: payee, amount in numbers, amount in words, memo, signature.

What do I do with the check once it is written? Keep it visible, then move the number somewhere it can grow. A check records a decision; a ledger records what you do about it. If you want the longer argument, read why you should wire money to future you.
